Votive Relief: Artemis, Apollon, And Leto, early 20th century (plaster cast), 410-400 BC (original). The relief shows Apollon with his twin sister, Artemis, and their mother, Leto. The god sits on a three-foot stand (tripod), his raised right hand may once have held a laurel wreath or a libation dish (phiale). Leto, who stands behind him, rests her hand on his shoulder. The left side of the relief is fragmentary, but the bow that the female figure is leaning upon identifies her as Artemis, the hunting goddess. The relief is bordered by pillars, like a sanctuary — a frame worthy of the gods. According to the inscription at the top, the relief was offered to Apollon, probably at his sanctuary in Athens (Pythion).
